How to Measure For Your Bespoke Picture Frame

Step by Step Guide

Step 1:
Place your artwork, on a flat surface.

Step 2:
Measure both the width and the height of your artwork in mm.

Step 3:
Enter your measurements into our Frame designer and start designing your frame.

Important Information**
If you are purchasing a mount with your frame, the mount will overlap your artwork by 3mm each side. For Example, if you enter your artwork size as 200mm x 200mm, the inside of the mount will measure as 194mm x 194mm. This ensures that your artwork does not fall through the window cut out of the mount. Do not make any extra allowances for overlapping.

How to use our online picture framing tool Designed to help you create your perfect Picture Frame in few simple steps

Step 1) Enter your picture size:

We recommend you measure in mm as this is the most accurate way to measure and ensure the frame fits perfectly. Don't worry about any other measurement as our system automatically calculates the size of everything based around the size of your picture

Once you know your size enter the width and height into the framing tool

Step 2) Adding a picture mount

Now it is time to start designing your mounts. The first task is to choose how many layers you would like. Mounts can be designed with up to 3 layers that sit like a pack of playing cards. You see most of the top mount and just a thin part of any lower layers. If you don’t want any mounts select “no mount” layers.Next set the top mount border sizes. This is the distance your picture will be offset from the frame.
Our default is 50mm. You can change this to any size you like and the preview of your Picture Frame will change accordingly.
The reveal setting is the distance between mount layers. I.e the amount you will see of the lower mount colour.

Now choose your mount colours, click the box on the right and select the colour you like, The preview of your Picture Frame will change accordingly

Step 3) Choosing your frame

Select between the 8 different categories of frames .The preview of your Picture Frame will change accordingly.

Step 4) Choosing your glazing option

2mm Safety Crystal Clear Acrylic / Non Reflective Acrylic / No Glazing

Care & Assembly

Our frames come ready to hang out of the box, all you need to do is insert your own picture and attach the screw eyes/hooks. Below are a few tips on how to do this.

Custom wood frames: How do I insert my pictures, assemble and hang my frame?

  • To insert your pictures simply lift up the flexi pins found on the back of your frame which are pressing down the MDF board, take out the MDF board and pop in your picture. You will notice that your frames arrive almost fully finished, after inserting your picture all you have to do is insert the screw eyes or hooks, depending on what we have deemed appropriate to send and then attach the polycord. Done, now you just have to hang them, paying close attention to alignment.

  • How do I attach my picture to my new mount?
  • Take your new photo mount and place it face down on a flat, clean surface. Now position your picture facedown on top of the mount. Your picture should overlap your mount opening slightly; allowing you to tape it down securely so it doesn't move around in the frame. We recommend using normal sellotape for this process.

  • Our glazing has a protective film on both sides, designed to catch any scratches it may encounter in transit. Once you have peeled the film off from both sides of the glazing, it will be crystal clear.
