How to Measure

Frame your picture like a professional.

We’re here to help with all your picture framing needs. From measuring your artwork to fitting, cleaning and assembling, we have all the answers.

Basic Print/Artwork

Measure the width and height of your print / artwork and enter these sizes into our frame designer. If you choose a mount with your frame, it will overlap your print / artwork by 3mm and make the outside of the frame larger.

Print/Artwork with White Border

If there is a white border around your print/artwork, decide if you want to see this white border or not. If you want to see it, measure the outside width and height and enter those sizes into our frame designer. If you want a mount to cover the white border, measure the actual size of the print / artwork, excluding the white border, see image right. Note, a mount will overlap your print / artwork by 3mm on each side and make the outside of the frame larger.

Print/Artwork with Text

If there is a signature or text on your print/artwork that you want to see, you need to include these in your measurements. Please see image left as an example on how to measure if you want to include text or signatures. Note, if you choose a mount it will overlap your artwork / print by 3mm on each side.

Mount Information

When you add a single, double or triple mount to your frame, the mount will overlap your artwork by 3mm on each side. For example, if you enter your artwork size as 200mm x 200mm, the inside of the mount will measure 194mm x 194mm. This ensures that your artwork does not fall through the window cut out of the mount. Do not make any extra allowances for overlapping. Mounts can be designed with up to 3 layers that sit like a pack of playing cards. You see most of the top mount and just a thin part of any lower layers.

Frame Overlap

Every picture frame will overlap their artwork by approx. 4mm. This prevents the print/artwork falling through the front of the frame. If a mount has been selected, this rebate is where the mount will sit.
